We received these very special masks made by the Auntie Sewing Squad! They are so beautiful and much needed right now. We cannot thank Auntie Kathy enough for these. We continue to be impressed by all of your generosity. Thank you!
We are very carefully receiving physical donations at our office. If you would like to donate the following items: face masks, sanitizers, and pop top cans ONLY, please SHIP to our Chula Vista Office as we have limited access. Before the Labor Day holiday weekend, we revisited a section of the desert that has canyons that are very exposed to the sun to leave more items for those traveling through. In the past, this area has been heavily traveled.
Our team experienced a rare desert cool down of around 110° or so. If you were anywhere in the West or Southwest, you’ll remember Labor Day weekend had seen some record temperatures along the border. It was crucial that we stocked these canyons with water and supplies before the record temperatures hit.
Water Drops will continue to be limited to experienced volunteers due to the high temperature. Thank you for your patience. As soon as we can safely take new volunteers we will.
For any questions about Water Drops, reach out to Water Drop Program Co-Director James Cordero, [email protected].
Thank you for your continued support!

Check out the fridge we were able to get our friends at the Camino de Salvación shelter thanks to all of you! Their previous fridge wasn't working properly to the point that it would freeze and spoil most perishable foods, wasting their groceries. This new fridge will keep the shelter's food fresh and will store more than before! We are so happy to know that with this purchase, many migrant families will get the proper food and meals they deserve.
This past month, Border Angels also provided monetary support to 15 other shelters. With these funds, shelters were able to pay for their groceries, rent, utilities and other bills. Many of these shelters depended on physical in-kind donations prior to the pandemic, but with the the limiting of cross-border travel a lot were left without any aide.
Your donations are incredibly important to them, as they are supporting so many families and saving lives!
We thank you all so much for the continued support and generosity.

This past weekend we were able to host another educational group presentation! Thank you so much to Point Loma Nazarene University’s Ministry with Mexico for their Virtual Border Pilgrimage with Border Angels.
We are happy to partner with learning opportunities such as theirs which enables their members to engage in very much needed discussions on so many important topics such as the border and immigration.
We were able to connect via zoom while we were out in the desert on Sunday, to provide a glimpse into our work! Whatever the “new normal” may be for schools and education, we are excited to continue being a part of it!
Would you like Border Angels to present for your class/event/organization?

Familias Reunidas
Bond Program
|
|
We headed into last weekend with some amazing news – another person was freed from detention through our Familias Reunidas Bond Program! Makari is an Ethiopian asylum seeker who was in detention for 3 months. This young, brave twenty-two-year-old man was detained at the Otay Mesa Detention Center, which continues to have an extreme number of COVID cases.
Mikari is now headed to Colorado to live with his family and to start his new life! We also want to thank all of the bond programs and organizations which have assisted us in making sure we free as many folks as we possibly can.
Each and every one of our bond recipients is extremely resilient, and we are in awe of their willpower. We also are so grateful to the success of our bond program, and in awe of the amount of individuals we have been able to free thanks to all of YOU.
Mikari represents so many others being subject to racist and inhumane policies. Let's not forget the urgency of getting everyone out of the Otay Mesa Detention Center. We need to continue fighting for justice! Thank you for your support and ask you to continue to help us make sure our folks are #FreeAndAlive.

With our new Green Cards for Kids program, we are so lucky to be able to work with immigration attorney Fabiola Navarro who will be representing these children.
It is crucial that we help these children as they have already suffered enough abuse, neglect and/or abandonment.
With your continued support, we can help pay for the legal representation these children deserve in this critical time of their lives.
Please consider donating! No amount is too small!

Despite the growing challenges of this pandemic, Border Angels remains determined to protect and support the community we have pledged to serve. Even though we are currently unable to accept physical donations, we are always accepting monetary donations to support:
1. Our Shelter Aid Program❤️: Especially now that we are unable to receive these items, we need your help to provide funds for groceries, hygiene products, utility bills, rent, clothes, etc.!
2. Familias Reunidas Bond Program👨👩👧: Given the severity of this outbreak, we NEED to get as many people out of the Otay Mesa Detention Center as we can. With your help we can post bond for more individuals! (Link in highlights under Bond Program)
3. Water Drop Program💧: Even after having to postpone public water drops, our team is still constantly in the desert scouting and dropping the supplies necessary for survival. Their work never stops because the need never stops.
Thank you for your continued support.🖤🦋
