SEATTLE TIMES: Federal judge orders Postal Service to stop changes that could slow election mail in challenge by Washington Attorney General Ferguson

Yesterday, Bob achieved a major victory in his case protecting the Postal Service from President Trump and Postmaster DeJoy’s harmful operational changes. The Eastern Washington federal judge found that President Trump and Postmaster DeJoy likely violated the law and the Constitution when they implemented “transformative” changes to delay the mail months before the national election.

This marks Bob’s 35th win against the Trump Administration in court and a major victory for the entire nation!

Dark money special interests are furious about this victory. They are determined to defeat Bob and willing to spend whatever it takes — that’s why a PAC created by the founder of Citizens United is supporting Bob’s opponent. The federal judge’s nationwide injunction blocks President Trump and the Postmaster General from implementing or enforcing their operational changes that would have interfered with the election. Thanks to our victory, the United States Postal Service must:
  • End the harmful “leave mail behind” policy;
  • Treat elections mail as First Class Mail again;
  • Stop decommissioning sorting machines, removing mailboxes, reducing hours, or take any other action likely to affect nationwide mail service.
This will protect a critical institution for all Americans, including seniors and veterans who count on the Postal Service for their medication.

Bob won this battle but there’s still work to be done to safeguard voting rights and protect the integrity of our elections.

President Trump and his advisors continue suggesting that they will not accept the election results. We need to keep Bob in the Attorney General’s office so that he can continue to protect our democracy and protect Washingtonians from harm.
