Hi John --
Some eye-popping news recently broke with major implications for our race here in ME-02, so we wanted to share it with you. Take a look:
Politico: Dark money groups are soon projected to pass $1 billion in reported spending since the Citizens United Supreme Court decision.
This is not how our democracy is supposed to function, John. Anonymous wealthy donors should not be given a green light to essentially buy our elections, and we need to fight back.
But unfortunately, this news isn’t shocking for us here in ME-02. Since the day Jared launched his candidacy, dark money and special interest groups have singled him out as one of their top targets.
So as we reach this $1 billion threshold for dark money spending in our elections, we need to recommit ourselves to supporting proven campaign finance reform champions like Jared.
Can you help us show these dark money sources that our grassroots team is more powerful than their deep pockets by chipping in today? Whether it’s $5, $15, or anything you can afford right now -- there’s strength in numbers, and together we can fight back against their billions.
