Fighting For You!
Ethics Reform Needed Now!
It truly is a sad “state” of affairs in Illinois when both our
sitting Governor and our Speaker of the House are under Federal
criminal investigation. I stand with the Republican Caucus in
demanding Governor Pritzker convene a special session of the
legislature to debate and present comprehensive ethics reform bills.
Mike Madigan allowed corruption to infiltrate our statehouse. We need
to close loopholes in our existing laws to prevent this behavior. Here
are ethics proposals House Republicans proposed last year, but which
Madigan blocked from moving forward. It is now clear why.

79th District Road Improvements
I voted against the out of balance budget and the capital plan
because both called for spending money our state did not have;
however, knowing the budget and capital plan would pass despite my
vote, I fought hard to ensure the 79th District received funds.
I worked especially hard for 4 years with IDOT and 2
administrations having both Governor Rauner and Governor Pritzker
visit CSL and tour Armour Road to secure funding for improvements to
Amour Road to ease traffic flow. The Armour Road project spans bridge
to bridge and includes lane improvements, adding turn lanes, removing
the 4-way stop sign at CSL Behring and replacing it with a stoplight,
and coordinating stoplights on Armour Road and Route 50. Again, I
worked 4 years with IDOT and 2 Governors to secure the bridge
restructuring and improvements to the ramps at the I-57 Exit 308
Interchange. Improvements to the road and bridges along I-55 in
Grundy County are also funded.

COVID-19 Updates
I signed 3 Letters to Governor
Pritzker with a request to
re-assign Kankakee County to its own health region as our area has
remained well below the 8% threshold set by his office. Kankakee
businesses and residents must not suffer by being paired with Will
County to make up Health Region 7 because the Region was selected
arbitrarily and not on the metrics and not on science. I will continue
to fight for the 79th District.

KCC Honored Professor
Kudos Dr. Condon—KCC Honored professor
It was my distinct pleasure to congratulate Dr. Condon on her
retirement from 31 years of public service with the last 22 at KCC.
Dr. Condon started the paralegal program and raised it to an ABA
accredited paralegal degree program. The program is a success and
continues to collaborate with the local legal community and KCC
paralegals are practicing throughout our community from local private
firms to the courts to the States Attorney and Public Defenders
offices. Thank you, Dr. Condon.

Census
Want something to do while you are at home? Respond to the Census!
You may have received mail from the Census Bureau with a code. Head
online and respond. It takes 5 minutes and it mean actual money
for funding for our schools, roads, and human services!
I already responded! Please be counted and encourage others to be
counted. We lose money locally and statewide for everyone not counted.
When you're done, you can see how our country, state, county, and
village is responding. Check
out the Census response rate map and encourage your neighbor to
respond, too!
VOTING is our most precious freedom!
Kankakee County Voting
Election Day:
November 3rd all polling places open on election day.
Early voting:
September 24th to November 2nd. Click for Kankakee County Clerk
early voting places and schedule.
Early voting is in person voting without the lines on Election Day
and may be the safer choice if you are concerned about social
distancing. Early voting is secure and safe. Even though I usually
vote on election day, I plan to early vote to make sure my vote is
secure and counted. Who knows what the polls will be like and what
will happen with mail in voting? I urge all to early vote.
Mail in Voting:
Ballot must be postmarked by November 3rd and received by the Clerk
by November 17th.
