 800+ people from 42 states hold 150+ congressional meetings for Palestinian rights Dear Supporter, I’m writing to you at the end of an exhausting but exhilarating week of our virtual Palestine Advocacy Days. More than 800 people from diverse religious and ethnic backgrounds from 42 states held more than 150 congressional meetings, including dozens with members of Congress themselves, to advocate for Palestinian rights. We’ve already seen dramatic results with more members of Congress cosponsoring historic legislation--H.R.2407 and H.R.8050--to support the human rights of Palestinian children in Israeli military detention and to impose consequences on Israel should it illegally annex more Palestinian land. This is an example of our collective power to move US policy in the direction of supporting Palestinian rights and we can do it together only with your support. In addition, six members of Congress--Reps. Betty McCollum, Rashida Tlaib, Donald Payne, Jr., Judy Chu, Debbie Dingell, and André Carson--delivered powerful remarks during our public plenary session, already viewed by nearly 15,000 people, in support of Palestinian human rights. Congresswoman McCollum, who received our Champion of Palestinian Rights Award for her courageous commitment to introducing legislation in support of Palestine, stated: I want to give a very special thanks to the American Muslims for Palestine for being such a fantastic partner and ally in the work that we do together. Right-wing media and infiltrators failed miserably in their efforts to derail our Palestine Advocacy Days. In a few instances, people infiltrated our congressional meetings to spew vile Islamophobic and anti-Palestinian sentiments. This badly backfired on them and increased staffers’ sympathy for their constituents and their ‘asks’ of supporting Palestinian rights. Thank you to the inspired members of Congress who joined our public session, our amazing speakers, our tireless staff, and--most important of all--the devoted constituents who made Palestine Advocacy Days such a success.
