Early data from the 2020 Asian American voter survey shows that 56% of Asian American and Pacific Islander voters have not been contacted at all by the Democratic Party. That means Democratic voter outreach is falling short at a time when Trump’s odds of winning the presidency are dangerously high.
We know this country won’t survive another term of Donald Trump. Another four years of kids in cages, institutionalized neglect of communities of color, and attacks on our health care, voting rights, and Supreme Court will spell disaster for our already threatened democracy.
The good news is that we can remove this failed president from office and replace him with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris -- but only if we dramatically improve voter turnout. We’re working to close the voter outreach gap and elect diverse and progressive politicians who will excite and mobilize the communities they represent. These candidates will work tirelessly to reverse the damage of the last four years by passing legislation that will benefit us all, not just a few wealthy white men at the top.
But Trump and his allies aren’t going down without a fight. A Salon analysis found that the president’s re-election campaign and the RNC “have registered a combined 100,000 new voters ahead of the 2020 election, closing gaps between Republican and Democratic voters in a number of critical swing states.”
We must answer with a robust voter outreach campaign of our own. But Democrats have become too comfortable with misleading national polls that don’t capture the situation on the ground in battleground states. As a result, they’ve stopped giving. In order to ramp up our operations, we need to meet our fundraising goals -- otherwise, we’ll be forced to scale back less than two months before the election of our lifetimes.
Right now, we’re incredibly behind. We need to raise another $1,674 before midnight if we want to get back on track for our grassroots voter mobilization goals.
That’s why we’re reaching out to you. We know you know the stakes. We know you’ve been watching the news. We know the horrors of the last four years have left you heartbroken, furious, and ready to demand something different. We just ask that you don’t let our one chance at a change slip through our fingers at the last moment.
