Bone Kortie and her children used to be able to reliably eat two meals a day. Bone sold milk before COVID-19 came to her home town in Paynesville City, Liberia, but now, due to the effects of the pandemic, no one can afford to buy the milk. Bone and her children have had to adapt to "no food days" when she can't afford to buy food for them to eat.
Bone and her family are some of the 121 million people who are at risk of being pushed to starvation this year as a result of the pandemic, due to the economic decline, mass unemployment, disruption to food systems, and declining aid caused by COVID-19. Your help is urgently needed for families like Bone's and other vulnerable people living in hunger and poverty.
Give now: we're halfway to our 24-hour deadline to raise $50,000 for families living in poverty worldwide. >> [link removed]
Thanks to the support of the Oxfam community, Bone is able to participate in a cash transfer program funded by Oxfam and our partner the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. Bone called the transfer "a dream come through," and said she and her children were now able to eat daily. But there are so many others who still need help.
That is the impact of your donation, Friend. Your commitment powers programs to help people affected by hunger and poverty worldwide, like through providing seeds and tools to farmers in Ethiopia, distributing soap in Syria, and making sure clean water is available in Yemen.
In addition to our work supporting people facing hunger, we're working to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in more than 60 countries and the US to reach more than 14 million people to make sure we're addressing the root cause of this new hunger crisis.
Join us: make a donation during our 24-hour fundraising challenge to help raise $50,000 for families living in poverty. >> [link removed]
Thank you for your commitment to ending the injustice of poverty worldwide.
