On?Monday, September 14th,
the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals overturned protections for nearly
half a million Temporary Protective Status (TPS) holders after making
a final verdict on the Ramos v. Nielsen lawsuit.
This means that the termination of TPS will be moving
forward and TPS holders now have a deadline of when they will be
falling out of status in the coming months.
In the LA area, roughly 1,400 port
drivers are TPS holders.?Without TPS, drivers will lose their jobs and
be at risk of deportation and indefinite separation from their
families.
In response, TPS Holders, their families,
and allies will hold a series of mobilizations and press conferences
to express their disagreement with these decisions.
On?Monday, September
21st,?we will join CARECEN for a press conference (with
social distancing measures implemented) and?we need faith leaders to
perform a blessing in clergy attire.
