This is huge, folks. After months of pressure, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries has become the second highest-ranking Democrat in the House to co-sponsor Medicare for All. Here’s how we did it:
- Volunteers with our campaign sent 75,000 texts to his constituents this summer, asking them to demand his support;
- Our largest People’s Assembly of the summer took place in his district just 3 weeks ago. Over 150 people in Brooklyn turned out and signed up to attend street canvasses, make phone calls, and recruit their friends and family to pressure Rep. Jeffries; and
- We generated more than 10,000 petition signatures, calling on Rep. Jeffries and his colleagues to join the 118 House members in co-sponsoring H.R. 1384.
We have so much momentum on our side. And while we’re grateful for Rep. Jeffries’ support, we can’t let up.
It’s on all of us to put even more pressure on Congress to support Medicare for All. Will you sign up today to join an upcoming Medicare for All event in Washington?

I can’t overstate how big of a win this is, friends. Thanks to your hard work, we’ve proven — once again — that our grassroots organizing can apply the pressure needed to win over even the most hard-to-convince Democrats.
Let's keep it up,
