Friend --
At a time when we need them most, our public service workers - nurses, EMS workers, sanitation workers, childcare providers, and many more - are in danger of receiving a pink slip due to massive state and local budget shortfalls caused by the pandemic. While we face the threat of more layoffs, fewer teachers, trash piling up in the streets, and longer 911 response times, Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans have decided to "hit pause" on aid.
Join Health Care Access Now for their #FundTheFrontline digital day of action to pressure senators Tillis and Burr to act fast and pass more aid. Otherwise, America’s communities will not be able to beat this virus and safely reopen the economy.
Call your senators and tell them we cannot beat this virus if we lay off our everyday heroes. Tell them to pass robust, direct aid to our states, cities, towns and schools now. <[link removed]>
In addition to maintaining essential public services, any chance of economic recovery is tied to this much-needed aid. Without it, millions of additional jobs will be lost, disproportionately hurting women, people of color and veterans who are overrepresented in public service jobs.
As the virus continues to rage and as wildfires and powerful storms rip through communities across the country, we need our everyday heroes keeping our communities safe, healthy and strong. We need to fund the front lines.
