Hello John,

I hope this finds you well.

We continue to work with the officials in the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY) to revise the guidance in response to any new developments.

In light of this, I'd like to share with you the newly updated Guidance for Youth  Work Organisations based on the Government’s new framework, Resilience and Recovery 2020-2021: Plan for Living with Covid-19.

We have also updated the official DCEDIY/NYCI Covid Induction for Youth Services to reflect the changes.

It is worth noting that the new guidance continues to recognise that youth work provides a controlled environment for young people.

Some of the significant changes include:
  • Youth services will need to remain alert to which of the 5 levels applies at any given time and indeed your services may be operating at a number of levels depending on local restrictions

  • Residentials – further guidance will be provided for Levels 1 and 2 only.
  • A distance of 1 metre should be maintained between individual young people and youth workers in a youth work setting consistent with the advice for schools.

Please make sure to share this update widely with your networks and across the sector.

As ever, if you have any questions or feedback let me know.

Kind regards,

Mary
