Dear John,This has been a huge week.Regardless of which way the vote goes next week, we should all be proud of what we’ve achieved. And we should all be ready for the fight that’s ahead. Over the last two weeks, you’ve sent nearly forty-thousand messages to MPs. That’s incredible. You’ve sent hundreds of messages to local Conservative Associations, and hundreds of letters in to your local paper, speaking out against the lawless actions of this Government. If your letter has been published, or will be published in
your local newspaper, please let us know when and where, so we
can keep track of the campaign. One of the best ways to get your MPs attention is filling their local paper with letters speaking out against this Bill. We need to show them their voters are paying attention – and they won’t let the UK’s name be dragged through the mud. We’ve seen Conservative MPs are willing to stand up to the Government, and opposition parties are willing to work together. It’s seeming likely the Internal Markets Bill will be amended, allowing parliament a say on its most controversial clauses. But this isn’t enough. Whether a Bill allows the Government to breach international law or a Bill gives Parliament a vote on whether the Government can breach international law, it is still in principle flouts the spirit of the law. Best wishes, Naomi Smith, To the editor, The Conservatives pride themselves on being the party of law and order, of economic stability and of the Union. Now the government is openly breaking international law and paving the way to a no-deal economic disaster. How can the Conservative and Unionist party jeopardise the hard-won peace in Northern Ireland? The Prime Minister does not speak for ordinary Conservatives. He was elected to deliver a comprehensive, ‘oven-ready’ deal with Europe, which would help communities and businesses like mine. Polling by Best for Britain shows 90% of voters in the Red Wall want a deal. Instead, his actions threaten not only the reputation of the Conservative Party, but the global reputation of the UK as a trustworthy nation. Yours sincerely, [Name] |
