EXPANDING CAPACITY FOR BUSINESS AND SERVICES IN TEXAS AND ISSUING GUIDANCE ON NURSING HOME AND ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES
Today I announced that Texas is expanding occupancy levels for select businesses and services and re-authorizing elective surgeries for a majority of the state.
Effective immediately, 19 of 22 hospital regions in Texas can resume elective surgeries while maintaining the threshold of beds for COVID-19 patients. On September 21st, these same regions may increase occupancy levels to 75% for restaurants, retail stores, office buildings, manufacturing facilities, gyms, exercise facilities and classes, museums and libraries. And effective September 24th, eligible nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and long-term care facilities will be able to designate up to two essential family caregivers for visitation to ensure their loved one's needs are being met. Texans must continue to follow safe practices by wearing a mask, social distancing, and practicing proper sanitation strategies. By maintaining these standards that are proved to mitigate COVID-19, we can continue to slow the spread while opening the Texas economy. For more information on guidance and protocols, click HERE. |
