New Bomber Deployment Model Improves Readiness
Air Force Global Strike Command is seeing a surge in bomber readiness as the fleet shifts away from continuous bomber presence deployments and missions like close air support, commander Gen. Timothy M. Ray said. "Well over 20 B-1s" can fly on "any given day," a significant feat considering at one point the fleet was so worn down from Middle East operations that only one and six B-1s could be called on for combat, he said.
