Yes, it's still 2020. No, all of this isn't a dream.

Coronavirus has put a strain on our mental health and our wallets and this moment feels particularly insurmountable. We have just 48 days until the election of our lifetimes with better wages, safer workplaces, and more affordable healthcare on the ballot and we couldn't need those policies any more than we do right now.

Right here in Indiana we are seeing polls tighten! In April, there was a 20-percentage-point margin between Governor Holcomb and Democratic Nominee for Governor Woody Myers. Earlier this month a poll came out showing that margin is now just SIX-PERCENTAGE-POINTS. Democrats in Indiana have momentum, and Young Democrats around the state are stepping up to keep pushing us forward. Be sure to request your absentee ballot ASAP to keep up the push! In California, our country is on fire. California is experiencing some of the worst wildfires in recorded history and the connection to climate change is clear. Climate change leads to a different percentage make-up of water droplets and ice in clouds than normal. Those changes, in-turn, lead to more friction inside of the clouds, which causes both more lightning and stronger lightning. The current wildfires can be traced back to mid-August, when in 48 hours between August 16th and August 18th, California experienced over 7,000 lightning strikes igniting over 350 fires. Climate justice is social justice, and we stand alongside our friends in California who are seeing first-hand the impact of climate inaction. In honor of John Lewis' legacy, we are again calling on our elected leaders in Washington D.C., those that worked side-by-side with Congressman John Lewis, to enact HR4 as the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. If you have five minutes this week, make sure to call your representatives and ask them to enact HR4. While you're there, remind them to fully fund the Postal Service.
