I'd love your help on the election campaign

Voting opens in 15 days!
Dear John,

It's hard to believe it but voting for the election opens in just 15 days, on October 3! The election campaign is in full-swing although in a socially-distanced way - meaning no door-knocking or large events.

Before I go on - I'll get the ask for help out straight-away: if you can help me out in the next month, I'd really appreciate it. It is a huge privilege to be the MP for Hutt South and I'm asking for the support of Hutt residents so I can keep working hard and getting things done for the Hutt. I'd really appreciate your support to help get that message out there. There's lots of ways to assist - if you click here ([link removed]) you can sign up online to become a volunteer, or click here ([link removed]) to make a donation to my campaign. Every little bit helps - phone calling, donations, scrutineering, etc. Thank you for your support!

The last couple of weeks have been full-on - but there'll be plenty of time for sleep once the election is over! You can read a bit more about what I've been up to below - school and business visits, getting out and about in the community, and assisting on a range of constituency matters. Working hard and getting things done for the Hutt is my top priority.

Have a great Friday and enjoy the weekend. See you soon!

P.S I see the Regional Council is talking about our trains FINALLY accepting Snapper. ([link removed]) Bring it on I reckon!

I'd love your help!

Socially distanced human hoardings down on the Esplanade on the weekend - what a cracking day!
Hutt and City Taxis
Caught up with these legends from Hutt and City Taxis the other night when Jenna and I were out for a walk. Great Hutt company.
Crohn's Disease and Colitis
Dr Richard Stein and Hayley, Jessica, and Hollie came to see me this week at my Hutt office. Dr Stein is a Hutt legend who chairs the board of Crohn's and Colitis New Zealand. It was good to hear about their latest campaign to get Pharmac to fund ustekinumab, which 38 other countries fund around the world including Australia. Over 20,000 New Zealanders suffer from Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, one of the highest per capita rates in the world. Ustekinumab has the potential to offer those with the most aggressive disease a life without chronic pain, bloody diarrhoea, repeated hospitalisations and life-altering surgeries, and the hope for a fulfilling work and family life.

Monday Munchies
Awesome to catch up with Bianca from Monday Munchies Wainuiomata a couple of weeks ago. Bianca spends Sunday afternoons at the kitchen out the back of the Wainuiomata community centre making lunches for kids for school the next week. An amazing person going above and beyond in our community who need a bit of extra support. Thanks, Bianca!
Who wore it better?
Ian McKelvie MP rocking the mullet on a hoarding in the Rangatikei....
Thanks, Allan

A huge thanks to Allan Sainsbury who is stepping down as chair of Citizens’ Advice Bureau Lower Hutt after four years. Allan has done a great job.

Thank you to to all the staff and volunteers of the CAB. You do an amazing job for Lower Hutt.
Visit to San Antonio School

Pooh Bear called in at San Antonio School in Eastbourne to read to the kids and help launch "Book Week"!
Jackson St Project

Next stop on our Jackson St project - trying every cafe and restaurant, west to east on Jackson St. Doubled up on Friday night with fish and chips from Go Fish, BYO to Sprig and Fern Petone! Delicious.
Butterfly Creek Theatre Troupe

Pleasure to attend the opening night of Snap!, by the Butterfly Creek Theatre Troupe on Thursday night last week. There are two performances left at the Muritai School Hall - tonight and tomorrow, Tickets from Eventfinda or Rona Gallery.

Snap! Is a classic who-dunnit, by Fiona Farrell, based on a novel by Ngaio Marsh. Trust me - you’ll love it!

Well done to everyone involved.
Nice to have the company!
Coast Road Church, Wainuiomata
It was lovely to drop into the Coast Road Church book sale on the weekend. A very special place for me as my great, great Grandfather Joe Dixon was a peripatetic preacher who used to venture there to preach.
Eastbourne Sunset
Snapped this while around in Eastbourne the other night - just beautiful.
Ladyhawke
Ladyhawke has enjoyed my "Pats and Chats" sessions over the last couple of weeks.
