Hi John,

Today, Supreme Court Justice and progressive icon Ruth Bader Ginsburg will receive the Liberty Medal. The National Constitution Center is giving RBG this prestigious award “for her efforts to advance liberty and equality for all.”

Throughout her life, RBG has been a fierce advocate for women’s and gender equality, despite the fact that she was attending law school, joining firms, and earning a seat on the bench at a time when women were not welcome.

Since then, she has been a defender of reproductive choice and has fought to protect DACA recipients. She’s also been regarded as the face of the Donald Trump resistance.

Justice Ginsburg has worked to hold Trump accountable, and in retaliation, the president has called for her resignation from the Supreme Court. But as RBG joins Malala Yousafzai, former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, and the late Representative John Lewis in receiving this great honor, I’m reminded of the critical fights ahead of us.

This November, the future of the Supreme Court is on the ballot.

We cannot allow Donald Trump to nominate another Justice to the Supreme Court.

Over the next 47 days, we have to do everything we can to protect the courts! I hope I can count on you to join me.

Thank you for all that you do.

Best,
Mary Gay
