Tell Congress:
"A new study concludes that taxpayers funded the research for every single new prescription drug introduced in the past ten years. But Americans still pay the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs. It’s time for Congress to act: Tell them to put patients before Big Pharma’s profits."
|
A recently released study finds that every new prescription drug introduced between 2010 and 2019 was based on research funded by American taxpayers. This new study shows how taxpayer-funded research through the National Institutes of Health (NIH) becomes the basis for new prescription drugs.[1]
We hand Big Pharma a monopoly on these new prescription drugs, and Big Pharma thanks us by charging Americans the highest prices in the world![2]
ADD YOUR NAME: We’ve already paid for drug research. We’re tired of paying the world’s highest prices for prescription drugs. Tell Congress: We’ve had enough!
Since taxpayers are the ones paying for the research that leads to new prescription drugs, those drugs should be available to people who need them. Unfortunately, pharmaceutical corporations are granted exclusive monopolies which let them charge whatever they want. As a result, many Americans can’t afford the prescription drugs they need. That’s unacceptable. It hurts people — and kills them.
This system is warped. But a better way is possible. The needs of people can, and should, come before Big Pharma profits. It’s time to dismantle Big Pharma’s rigged monopolies. Prescription drugs should primarily benefit the people who paid for their research in the first place.
Tell Congress: We pay taxes to fund research for new drugs. The American people should reap those benefits, not Big Pharma!
