LETTER FROM STAFF
Lisa Anderson | Director of Young Adults
I just came back from a visit with two of my nephews in Atlanta. Both are looking for work — their first post-college jobs. And they’re super angsty about it. I don’t envy them. I remember the applications, networking, LinkedIn stalking — all followed by the steady stream of rejections. But looking back now that I’m years into my career, I say to them and you: Hang in there; it’ll come. You may be unemployed or underemployed; I was too. You may be embarrassed when you answer the “What are you doing now?” question. For a season I had to answer with, “Counting lasagna noodles all day.” Be persistent. Adjust expectations. Stick your neck out. Pray. And stay hopeful. Walk through a reasonable open door. If you have several, pick one. If you have none, keep knocking. The chances of you still drifting at 35 or 40 are slim. God’s in control, even over HR departments and resumes. James 4:13-14, Proverbs 16 |
