Most people still think the Iran war is a regional conflict.

It’s not.

It has already spread through the global economy.

– Tanker traffic through Hormuz collapsed from 110–130 per day to near zero
– 17% of Qatari LNG capacity is offline after missile strikes
– Slovenia has begun fuel rationing
– Goldman Sachs has named the UK the developed economy most exposed to a
jet-fuel crunch — critically low reserves, near-total import reliance, and a
gutted refining base — and warned rationing could follow.

That’s not noise.

It’s a supply shock.

And energy shocks don’t stay in the energy sector.

I’ve studied commodity cycles for decades. As one of only 200,000 CFAs in the
entire world, I can tell you:

Energy shocks don’t stay contained. They spread.

And the kind of shock I see at our doorstep is the one scenario when you
cannot own enough gold.

Energy affects everything – food… transportation… manufacturing.

Dow Chemical recently doubled its price on polyethylene overnight.

That means everything you buy is about to get more expensive.

Now ask yourself this:

What happens when energy costs surge – and governments are already neck-deep
in debt?

They’ll pass it through – and print money to stabilize markets. No matter
what comes next…

The currency you earn and save is about to take a big hit.

That’s when gold becomes critical.

And the best way to own gold today is through undervalued gold miners.

Go here for details on my top four picks.

Case File № DRT-ED-SHOCK · Special File · The 1970s Playbook

Oil Is Up 38% Since the War Began. Gold Is Down. The Last Time This Happened,
Gold Rose More Than 20-Fold.

The Iran war has triggered a real energy shock: oil near $100, a sixth of
Qatar’s gas exports knocked out for years. Yet gold has fallen from its January
record. In the 1970s, this exact setup came right before one of the biggest
gold runs in history.

Threat level 4/5 — Elevated

Something doesn’t add up. The world is in the middle of its biggest energy
shock in decades. Inflation is rising again. Governments are deep in debt.
That’s the textbook setup for gold. And yet gold has gone the other way.
History suggests that kind of gap doesn’t last.

The evidence board

The Shock Is Real

EVIDENCE

Exhibit A — oil. Brent crude traded around $72 before the war began on
February 28. On October 6 it was $99.57, up about 38%.

EVIDENCE

Exhibit B — gas. In March, Iranian missiles hit Qatar’s Ras Laffan complex.
Qatar says the strikes cut its LNG export capacity by 17%. Repairs could take
three to five years.

EVIDENCE

Exhibit C — your wallet. U.S. energy prices rose 16.3% in the year to August.
Gasoline rose 27.4%.

EVIDENCE

Exhibit D — gold. Gold passed $5,000 an ounce for the first time in January.
After the war began, it fell more than 20% and dipped below $4,000 in July. On
October 9 it was about $4,169.

The precedent

What Happened in the 1970s

EVIDENCE

In 1971, gold was officially $35 an ounce. Then came the 1973 oil embargo, a
decade of energy shocks and inflation, and governments printing money to
cushion the blow. By January 1980, gold had reached $850, more than 24 times
higher.

OUR THEORY

Energy shocks don’t stay in the energy sector. They push up prices for food,
transport and manufacturing. Then governments, already deep in debt, respond
the only way they can: with more money. That’s when gold stops being an option
and becomes a necessity. Gold miners tend to move even more, because their
profits rise faster than the metal itself.

Why it matters to you

What This Gap Means

→Gold is cheaper than the setup suggests. It’s well below its January record
while the reasons to own it keep growing.

→Miners amplify the move. When gold rises, a miner’s costs stay roughly the
same, so profits can jump sharply.

→The money response hasn’t come yet. In past shocks, the biggest gold gains
came after governments started printing.

ClassificationSetup forming

An energy shock, rising prices, record debt, and gold sitting below its high.
In the 1970s, investors who recognized this setup early made fortunes. The
pieces are lining up again.

Open file · unresolvedWhich gold miners are best positioned for what comes
next? Not every miner benefits equally. The ones with low costs, growing output
and strong balance sheets tend to capture most of the upside when gold turns. A
short list of undervalued names stands out right now. When gold moves, the best
miners usually move first. That’s why the time to look is now.

It's the one asset you've been told your whole life is "safe." Cash.

Cash feels safe because the number never changes.
Nixon took the dollar off gold on a Sunday night in 1971. A man with $10,000
in the bank still had his $10,000 nine years later… but he could buy half of
what he could buy before.
Gold went from $35 an ounce to $850 in those same nine years.
That was the last reset. Now this time around Washington is not buying gold.
It is buying companies, and we found five of them.
