Poll Watchers
------------------------------------------------------------

**
This election season is the most important one many of us have had in our lifetime. The safety and security of our voters is imperative. We must ensure that every vote is counted and valid. One way for us to do that, is to have Democratic Poll Watchers in the voting locations. This is a vital volunteer position. Poll Watchers are needed for Election Day (November 3). If you are interested in being a Poll Watcher, there are 2 steps to take.

------------------------------------------------------------
1. Sign up for the training with the Supervisor of Elections by September 28^th. See the flyer below for more information.
2. Once you sign up for the training, send an email to [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) to let them know you signed up. You will also need to submit to us your full name, residential address, phone number and date of birth. This information is required by the State for us to submit the necessary paperwork in coordination with our Voter Protection Team.

NON-PARTISAN VOTER REGISTRATION PARADE

On Saturday, September 19^th there will be a Register to Vote Caravan in Gifford. Meet at 45^th Street and 28^th Court (by Gifford Middle School) at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. start. Decorate your car to encourage Voting. There will be four voter registration stations set up in Gifford for people to register to vote. For more information, call Freddie Woolfork at 772-633-3941.

This week, the campaign will spend over $65 million on its paid media program — spanning television, radio, digital, print, and introducing four new health care ads: “Little Brother ([link removed]) ”, “Anthony ([link removed]) ,” “Unforgivable ([link removed]) ,” and “Do Your Job ([link removed]) .”

* Today, Joe Biden and Jill Biden will host a virtual Rosh Hashanah event. In the evening, Joe Biden will travel to Scranton, Pennsylvania to participate in a CNN town hall at 8 PM EST.

* On Wednesday, Joe Biden received a briefing from public health experts in Wilmington, Delaware on a COVID-19 vaccine. Afterwards, Vice President Biden delivered remarks on developing and equitably distributing a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine.

* On Tuesday, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris released their plan to ensure Puerto Rico has the resources they need and deserve, and outlined how they will work directly with the people of Puerto Rico to rebuild and restore hope. They will protect and build on Obamacare to deliver quality and affordable healthcare, strengthen the power system, invest in school infrastructure, provide families equal access to nutrition assistance, and rebuild Puerto Rico’s infrastructure. You can read the English version of the plan here ([link removed]) and the Spanish version here ([link removed]) .

* Also on Tuesday, Kamala Harris met with emergency service personnel for an assessment of the wildfires in Fresno, California. In the afternoon, Senator Harris traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada to attend a community conversation focused on the impact of COVID-19 on working families in the Latino community.

* This week, Scientific American announced ([link removed]) their endorsement of Joe Biden for President, breaking with an 175-year precedent to deliver an urgent, science-backed message to voters.

* Calling President Trump a “Climate Arsonist” as the ongoing wildfires raged in the west, Vice President Biden discussed the threat that extreme weather events pose to Americans everywhere, how they are both caused by and underscore the urgent need to tackle the climate crisis, and why we need to create good-paying, union jobs to build more resilient infrastructure.

* Jill Biden joined National Nurses United President Deborah Burger, RN and NNU members for a roundtable discussion on COVID-19’s impact on safe working conditions and patient safety.

* On the anniversary of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and the bans on Assault Weapons and High-Capacity Magazines, Joe released a statement ([link removed]) vowing that as President, he will immediately push for Congress to pass the VAWA reauthorization legislation and send it to his desk so that “we can fulfill our obligations to those women who are suffering and feel abandoned.”

* Jill and Joe Biden released a statement supporting police officers in the line of duty after the cold-blooded shooting of two Los Angeles County deputies, as well as the horrific death of Deputy Ryan Hendrix, a Marine veteran and police officer killed in the line of duty in Henderson County, North Carolina.
