Dear AFGE Activist,
Sign up for one of September’s four free webinars!
Steward Orientation: Friday, September 18, 1:00 p.m. Eastern. A must for new AFGE stewards, or any steward who has not yet had formal training in best practices for local stewards. This four-hour webinar overviews steward responsibilities, engaging and educating bargaining unit employees, and online tools and resources.
E-Dues: Building Power: Tuesday, September 22, 8:00 p.m. Eastern. As more locals move towards E-Dues, we’ve introduced a two-hour webinar to help guide local leaders in the transition to E-Dues. This training includes tips and tools to utilize the switch as a mobilizing opportunity for your local. Now offered during evening hours!
Representation: Grievance Handling, Saturday, September 26, 1:00 p.m. Eastern. This new and popular next-level stewards course is designed to help local stewards develop and refine their grievance processing skills. Topics include a detailed step-by-step process, interview tips, gathering evidence, and how to write a formal grievance. Note that participants must have taken the basic Stewards Orientation class via webinar (September 18), or can complete the self-paced option here. This new class has been filling up quickly!
Local Officer Orientation: Wednesday, September 30, 1:00 p.m. Eastern. This 4-hour overview for new local officers covers legal, fiduciary, and reporting requirements of local officers. Planning and budgeting for a strong, effective local is also discussed.
The new AFGE Training and Education homepage is also up and running! Click here to check out our online toolkits and self-paced learning on topics including bargaining, local officers, health & safety, EEO, and many more!
