A reporter recently asked what I would say to people who feel discouraged by our politics.
Here is what I said: “We are going to turn this around, but it is going to take a lot of work – all of us banding together and turning out in higher numbers than we ever have.”
There is no shortcut, and nobody is coming to do it for us.
After spending four days in upstate New York, in places that stopped getting attention years ago, do you know what I noticed? The rooms were full.
When we give people a reason to participate, when we give people a reason and something to vote for, we can transform who turns out in elections and how we win them.
