Happy Constitution Day, Oklahoma!

233 years ago, our founding fathers gathered in Philadelphia and signed the document that would cement our rights, and the boundaries of our government, into law.

The Constitution was the first of its kind and is still unique to the rest of the world to this day. By establishing a Republic with intricate power balances not only between the three branches of the federal government, but also between states and localities, America has created the freest society in all of history.

The freedoms we enjoy today must never be taken for granted. There are few people as blessed as us to live with guaranteed rights and liberties.

We must protect the Constitution and the concepts it contains to ensure freedom for the next generations of Americans. As the great President Reagan once said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.”

I hope you’ll join me in celebrating the United States Constitution and the freedom it has guaranteed for all of us.
