This New Year, we must unite against hatred and division.

Dear John,

Rosh Hashanah will be different this year.

Because of the pandemic, we will not be able to gather in synagogues or visit with family and friends. We will miss the physical and spiritual embrace of community, but the core tenets of the holiday endure.

We’ll reflect on the past year and pray for a better tomorrow. We’ll commit to being better spouses, children, parents, siblings, Americans, and Jews. And we’ll heed the shofar’s call to action.

Our country is in need of repair. Antisemitism and extremism are rising. Political polarization has seeped into nearly every aspect of our lives. It sometimes seems that we are so divided that we can barely see one another’s humanity.

At AJC, we believe that American Jews have a moral obligation to help solve these problems—and a vested interest in doing so. When societies falter and democracy is undermined, antisemitism flourishes.

It’s up to us to strengthen the values that bind us and take a stand against hatred and division.

By supporting AJC this New Year, you can do just that. You can stand up for American Jewish values and fight for the safety of Jews and all people.

Together, we can help make this a country where Jews and other minorities live free of fear.

The safety of the Jewish community is inextricably linked to the well-being of other minorities. That is why, for more than a century, AJC has united with other faith and ethnic communities to push for policies that protect our collective rights and security. Convincing Congress to pass expanded hate crimes legislation is just one crucial win.

Together, we can help make this a country where people treat each other with respect.

Political and cultural polarization have made our national discourse toxic. Without mutual respect—even when we disagree—extremism thrives. AJC is committed to remaining a nonpartisan, centrist voice.

We bring Republicans and Democrats together, uniting lawmakers behind essential legislation and keeping critical issues—like support for Israel and the fight against antisemitism—bipartisan.

Together, we can help make this a country where truth is valued.

In the digital age, conspiracy theories can catch fire—and Jews are often the target. AJC, with the largest social media community in the Jewish world, is spreading the truth to our 2.4 million followers every day. And we’ve created easily sharable online tools, like our Translate Hate glossary, that are helping people better understand antisemitism.

This Rosh Hashanah, let us recommit ourselves to tikkun olam, healing the world. AJC is doing our part by building a mass movement of Americans of all backgrounds ready to mobilize against hatred and division.

An effort this important requires each of us to step up and reaffirm that the values that unite us are stronger than those that divide us. Make sure your voice is heard. Please donate to AJC today.
