John,

Have you seen the news about Clive Palmer?

'Clive Palmer 's company donates $2 million to United Australian Party' - ABC News, 17 September

That’s right, Clive Palmer has thrown $2 million into his own political party for Queensland’s state election. This is blatant chequebook democracy by a man who has attacked Labor premiers across the country as they’ve protected their states from COVID-19.

This is the single biggest donation of the election yet, and it could be just a sign of more to come. At the last federal election, his company donated over $80 million to stop Labor from winning.

Clive Palmer desperately wants to stop Labor winning in Queensland, so it’s up to our whole labour movement to make sure that he doesn’t succeed.

The only way we can match Clive Palmer’s deep pockets is through the support of thousands of small dollar, grassroots donations from supporters like you.

So can you chip in a donation – whether it’s $10 or more, any amount will help – to help us match Clive Palmer’s big $2 million cash splash?

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and Labor have been doing important work in Queensland responding to the coronavirus crisis. They’re keeping Queensland safe and secure.

Clive Palmer wants to tear all that down and will stop at nothing to make sure that Labor can’t continue that important work.

Next month Queenslanders will face a choice between a strong leader in Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk who will stand up for her state in the tradition of Australia’s best and most fondly remembered premiers, and an LNP leader who is being led by the nose by Clive Palmer and Scott Morrison.

Help us show Clive Palmer that he can’t buy his way into power.

Chip in what you can and let’s help Labor keep Queensland safe.

In solidarity,

Wayne Swan
