Help us get IDs in Wisconsin! ([link removed])

It's September and Spread The Vote decided to welcome the new month with a little announcement: We're launching in Wisconsin! Woohoo!

We have actually wanted to launch in WI for a long time. The state has some of the most strict voter ID laws in the country and 300,000 registered voters without ID. We get emails every month from people asking us to come to the state. But launching in a new state has traditionally been pretty tough and very expensive and we just couldn't afford it. Until now. We've spent the summer working on a new method of launching that is both cost-effective and allows us to develop deeper local relationships and support local organizations much faster than usual.

So, starting this month we'll be working with the incredible organization
EX-Incarcerated People Organizing, or, EXPO ([link removed]) . EXPO works hard supporting currently and formerly incarcerated people and their families. They provide a wide range of services, including voter registration, and have been wanting to get IDs for a long time. With our custom-built tech, depth of knowledge, national and local support, and funding for IDs and documents, EXPO will be able to provide IDs for their clients and communities across the state and use our voter education materials and GOTV program to get them to the polls.

It's a huge win win. We'll be able to start working in a state that works hard to suppress the vote and EXPO will be able to provide the one thing that stops their clients from accessing the polls as well as almost everything else they need to fully reintegrate back into the community: an ID. And this is just the beginning. We're already working on growing even more across the state.

We are so excited about our new state and our new partnership and we can't wait to get started. We finished our new Wisconsin database last week and start training EXPO staff and volunteers ASAP!

Our average ID cost is $40 and it takes about $25 to train each new member of our team and get them started. Every bit helps as we work with only 424 days until the 2020 elections.
