Friend, thirty-five years ago, a 19-year-old volunteer named Shawn Landres was driving then-Governor Bill Clinton through Los Angeles when he had an idea.
He put a Fleetwood Mac cassette into his car stereo and told President Clinton, "If you run for president, this should be your campaign theme song."
The song was "Don't Stop (Thinking About Tomorrow)." President Clinton liked it, and he used it. Before long, it was inseparable from the 1992 campaign.
But it was never just a song. It captured the belief that tomorrow can be better than today, and that building that future is something we all have a role in.
As President Clinton put it years later, the song is "about tomorrow. It's about hope. It's about thinking about the future."
That belief still drives the work of the Clinton Foundation. It means bringing people together to tackle hard problems, investing in communities, creating opportunity, and finding practical ways to make life better for people around the world. It means believing that progress is possible, and then doing the work to make it happen.
Read Shawn Landres's story about how a cassette tape, a campaign, and one idea about the future came together, and why that message still matters. [[link removed]]
