** Announcing Guest Speakers for Next Weekend’s PLC National Conference
------------------------------------------------------------
Paul Lawless TD, elected for Mayo in 2024, has distinguished himself as a committed and hardworking public representative. He has also been a strong and unwavering voice for the right to life in the Dáil as a member of Aontú.
Cllr Linda de Courcy was elected to South Dublin County Council in 2024 as a first time candidate for Independent Ireland. She is also a courageous and vocal defender of the right to life.
Fleur Elizabeth Meston is a London-based writer, political commentator and pro-life campaigner. She campaigns against abortion, assisted suicide and euthanasia, advocating for the protection of vulnerable people and the dignity of every human life.
There's much more positive change happening than we sometimes realise. Encouraging developments and important shifts are taking place, even if the challenges we face can make them easy to overlook.
This year's Pro Life Campaign National Conference is an opportunity to shine a light on that progress, recognise the momentum gained in 2026 and take a fresh look at the opportunities and challenges ahead.
The event will bring together pro-life advocates from across the country for a day of fresh insights, lively discussion and a closer look at where things are heading.
With engaging speakers, thought-provoking discussion and workshops (beforehand), the day promises fresh perspectives, meaningful connections and a clearer understanding of what comes next.
Conference details:
📅 Saturday, 17th October 2026
🕙 12pm to 4pm (workshops from 11:15am)
📍 Gresham Hotel, O'Connell Street, Dublin 1
Don’t miss out on being there! REGISTER TODAY TO ATTEND
Admission is free, but donations on the day towards event costs are greatly appreciated.

** Breda O’Brien’s Irish Times article brings fresh perspective to Three-Day Wait debate
------------------------------------------------------------
Breda O’Brien’s article on the three-day wait in last Saturday’s The Irish Times is well worth reading and sharing.
It highlights the powerful testimonies from women who spoke at last week’s meeting near the Dáil about how the three-day wait influenced their decision to continue their pregnancies, alongside evidence presented of its life-saving impact that is becoming increasingly difficult for senior politicians to ignore.

** Watch: Paul Lawless presses Tánaiste over Health Committee’s rejection of request to meet women
------------------------------------------------------------
Deputy Paul Lawless did an excellent job questioning the Tánaiste about the Oireachtas Health Committee’s refusal to meet women who went for their first abortion appointment but chose not to proceed after the three-day wait.

** Senator Keogan takes Health Committee to task over refusal to hear women’s experiences of Three-Day Wait
------------------------------------------------------------
Speaking during Wednesday’s Order of Business in the Seanad, Senator Sharon Keogan criticised the Oireachtas Health Committee for rejecting a request to hear from women who attended an initial abortion consultation but changed their minds during the three-day waiting period.
The committee is currently conducting “detailed scrutiny” of the Sinn Féin bill seeking to abolish the reflection period before an abortion.
Responding, Leader of the Seanad Senator Garret Ahearn said it would be “disappointing” if the committee had failed to consult widely, as Senator Keogan suggested. He noted that, should the bill progress to the Seanad, there would be an opportunity at that point for a broader debate on the issues raised.

** We have to fight hard to end denialism around coercive abortion -

** watch Rosalie Markezvich’s story
------------------------------------------------------------
Rosalie Markezich, a young woman from Louisiana, recounts how her boyfriend coerced her into taking abortion drugs obtained online. Her short video with Alliance Defending Freedom is a powerful contribution to the debate. We encourage you to watch it here ([link removed]) .
Dr Kirsten Fuller, Senator Sarah O’Reilly and others raised the issue of coercive abortion at the recent Oireachtas Health Committee hearings on the three-day wait.
However, the Government’s response to the issue has so far been truly awful. The fear of upsetting the pro-abortion side even slightly seems to be at the heart of this pervasive denialism. How else can we explain the outright refusal to engage with or take action on the issue?

** Your story could help turn this debate around
------------------------------------------------------------
The debate on removing the three-day reflection period is at a crucial stage, and only one viewpoint is being heard.
If you or someone you know valued that time to reflect before choosing life, or has experienced abortion regret, your voice matters.
You can speak publicly or privately, with anonymity assured, and we will support you throughout. Send us a message to share your story or learn more. All conversations are strictly confidential.
