John,

Even though Speaker Johnson sent the House home early to avoid voting on crucial legislation, September was still a busy month serving our district and standing up against the Trump administration.

In Congress, I joined my colleagues to introduce the Motion Picture, Television, and Entertainment Revitalization Act. This bipartisan bill will create new federal tax credits to bring film production jobs back to the United States. As Chair of the Creative Rights Caucus, I know how our artists and technicians have struggled to find work near home, especially in the LA area.

I also reintroduced the End Tax Breaks for Dark Money Act, a bill to close a loophole that allows billionaires a tax write-off for contributing to dark money groups that influence our elections. And I introduced a resolution to honor the federally designated minority-serving institutions that serve the AANHPI community.

I also joined activists and lawmakers in LA to speak out against attacks on our democracy and fight for our voting rights, and led a letter to the Department of Health and Human Services demanding that they release the approved $100 million in funding for teen pregnancy prevention programs.

As our community continues to rebuild after the Eaton Fire, I fought for FEMA to release $10 million in crucial Disaster Case Management Program (DCMP) funding that helps survivors navigate their fire recovery process. I continue to push for FEMA to provide all of the case management funding that survivors need and for the President to finally support the comprehensive disaster supplemental package that we need to rebuild.

In Pasadena, I attended the grand opening of Planned Parenthood’s new flagship health center. Planned Parenthood provides essential care to our communities—including STI testing, birth control, cancer screenings, and more. I am pleased that Pasadena will have more options when it comes to women’s healthcare and family planning.

Finally, after delivering $13 million in federal community project funding to our district this past fiscal year, I presented checks to communities across the district for projects including a new police helicopter in San Bernardino County to assist with search and rescue.

With September behind us, the November 3rd election is fast approaching. In both Congress and in CA-28, I am working towards a Democratic majority to hold the Trump administration accountable and support my constituents through these hard times.

Next month, we can win big on Election Day if we work together to support Democrats in California and across the country. I’ll see you on the campaign trail.

Judy
