Earlier this week, we sent out a legislative action alert on two diversity bills that headed to the Floor for a vote. While these bills simply funneled funds to diversity programs or enforced statutes attempting to promote equality, House liberals are taking political correctness a step further in voting on H.Res. 908. This resolution condemns âall forms of anti-Asian sentiment as related to COVIDâ19.â
While hate crimes against a certain people group should be and currently are criminalized, H.Res.908 is overly dramatic, even going so far as to censor speech. The almost two-page list of condemned âanti-Asian sentimentâ includes the banning of âanti-Asian terminology and rhetoric related to COVID-19, such as the ââChinese Virusââ, ââWuhan Virusââ, and ââKung-flu.ââ It goes on further to say affirm the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention decision to ârecognize that naming COVID-19 by its geographic location or linking it to a specific ethnicity perpetuates stigma.â
Yet, House Democrats held a hearing on February 5, 2020 in the Committee on Foreign Affairs entitled, âThe Wuhan Coronavirus: Assessing the Outbreak, the Response, and Regional Implications.â
Like Speaker Pelosiâs hair salon scandal, it appears the Dems are immune to their own rules. Make no mistake, this resolution is an attack on our President and his Administrationâs actions in combatting the Coronavirus. Please join us in asking your Representative to vote NO on H.Res. 908 and GET BACK TO WORK!
