SEPTEMBER 2020

[7]

Dear John,

We are riding the wave of ups and downs recently in our work together to
stop plastic pollution. We are so thankful for our Coalition members,
particularly our California-based Notables, who rallied to support
_CALIFORNIA’S CIRCULAR ECONOMY & PLASTIC POLLUTION REDUCTION ACT_ (joint
bills SB 54/AB 1080), which fell short of passing by only 4 votes. Still,
we are undeterred! We know California will pass major packaging reform
legislation in the near future.

A bright spot is our incredible Youth Ambassadors who are speaking up with
powerful voices for change. We invite you to join the conversation by
signing up now for our webinar _PLASTIC FREE PLANET: YOUTH MOBILIZE FOR
CHANGE [7]_ on September 23. Panelists from the Bahamas, Florida, and New
York will speak on what they are doing to change climate policy and how
youth activism is affecting local, state, and federal governments to stop
plastic pollution. Plus, read on for all the latest news and action items
near you.

Onward!
