America's children and families need relief that addresses the public health pandemic, the economic crisis, and the ongoing, systemic racism impacting every aspect of their lives. Mothers like Sharisa in Baltimore tell us, "Things [were] hard financially before the pandemic, and with so many hikes in prices on basic needs, it's been harder." Sharisa's family received the one-time stimulus check from the federal government in the spring, and they receive some assistance to buy groceries, but like many parents across the country, she says she still has trouble putting food on the table. Sharisa's family urgently needs additional assistance for things like utilities and rent.
