FIRST: Governor Steve Bullock launched his campaign in Montana — which expanded the battleground map for Democrats and put Republicans on defense in a traditionally red state.

THEN: Bullock surged into the lead just weeks after announcing his campaign — and The Cook Political Report upgraded the Montana Senate race for the Democrats to a “toss-up” election. 

NOW: Republicans went on the attack with Mitch McConnell's right-wing network booking tens of millions of dollars in negative ads — and the latest poll released earlier this month has the race within the margin of error.
