Hi John,

I emailed you last week about the UK government's plan to spend billions of pounds building more motorways and roads. This will only create more traffic [1], more air pollution [2], more emissions, and destroy nature.

It's crucial we act now. We need to get the message to the government that the £27bn set aside for new roads should be spent on better public transport, more cycling and walking routes and fixing the roads we have.

Will you join the tens of thousands of supporters who have already signed our petition urging the government to give us sustainable and affordable transport options, instead of more roads and pollution?

For a lot of people - especially those living in rural areas - driving seems like the only option right now. Many of us have to make do with dangerous roads, unreliable buses and expensive trains - not to mention the need for social distancing.

But all of this can change if the government makes the right decisions. Moving to electric vehicles sooner will definitely help - but that's just one step in the right direction. [3]

Investing in transport that works for everyone is going to be crucial to building better, healthier communities - especially as we recover from the recession. It's also one of the best things we can do as a country to bring our climate emissions down and start tackling the climate crisis.

It will improve the air we breathe, and keep nature and wildlife safe from more motorways, cars and pollution - it just makes sense.

Can you add your name to the petition and call on the government to spend public money investing in public transport, walking and cycling and repairing the roads we've got - cutting traffic, cleaning up our air and giving people a real choice in how to get about?

Thanks for everything you do.
