Today is a national day of action to demand the Senate finally act. CHN is partnering with our national allies, fighting for critical pandemic relief. Our message to Senators is this:
As a direct result of the pandemic, millions of families have lost their jobs and can’t afford their rent, food and healthcare. It is time for the Senate to pass a meaningful COVID relief bill!
While the House of Representatives passed a comprehensive measure back in mid-May, Mitch McConnell and Senate Leadership failed to act, instead choosing to take a 25-day vacation.
Since then, Mitch put forward a feeble bill that would provide no additional stimulus checks to people and families, offered a 50 percent cut to the now expired $600 weekly boost in enhanced unemployed benefits, allocated $0 for food assistance or rental assistance, minimal aid to schools, and nothing for state and local governments facing lay-offs and service cuts.
The measure failed, as it should.

Since the pandemic began, massive numbers of people have lost jobs, seen incomes fall, lost health insurance, and are struggling to pay their bills and keep their families fed. Together, we must urge the Senate to understand the dire need of millions of people throughout our country. Together, we can compel action.
