Dear John,
A week ago, fires tore through the asylum center of Moria, Lesvos – leaving vulnerable people including children, pregnant women, elderly people and persons with disabilities sleeping on the streets. UNHCR is working with the Greek authorities to provide temporary shelter and cover the most immediate needs. We’ve already housed 700 people and have provided chemical toilets and handwashing stations to prevent the spread of coronavirus and other diseases.
However, around 11,000 people still have nowhere to sleep. We’re doing everything we can to identify the most vulnerable families and individuals, but we need your help to find safe shelter for everyone.
Your gift to UNHCR could help make sure every single person has a roof over their head and basic items like blankets, jerry cans and soap to keep them warm, safe and healthy.
