John, I was asked recently why I want to go back to Washington after eight years in Congress.
My answer is simple: People are hurting right now.
They are paying more for everything. They are watching executive orders upend the federal government. People know what they feel, and they know these policies are not working for them.
That is why flipping the House matters so much this November.
I do not take any race for granted, John. Only about 30% of voters in Connecticut's 5th District are registered Democrats. This district is urban, suburban, and rural, and I have to earn every vote. Will you chip in today to help me win and flip the House?
Here is what I want to do with a Democratic majority.
I plan to run for the top Democratic seat on the House Education & Workforce Committee. I am horrified by what is happening in the Department of Education. Trump-appointed Secretary Linda McMahon called closing the agency her "final mission." I know what that means for civil rights protections, for children with disabilities, and for students across Connecticut and the country.
My challenger did not even know what IDEA is, the law that guarantees services for students with disabilities. Our kids cannot wait for this system to magically get better. We have to make it better.
I want to start reversing $187 billion in cuts to SNAP and nutrition programs so children and families have basic nutrition needs met. And I will keep working with our labor partners to raise wages so working people can afford to live in our communities.
Will you chip in $10 today to help bring my message to every corner of the district?

I am humbled to serve in the House of Representatives. It belongs to the people, and I want to keep doing good work there for you.
With immense gratitude,
