Tell your Members of Congress to hold hearings on the climate crisis.

Super-storms are battering the South while fires are raging throughout the West with smoke choking our cities. These natural disasters are the inevitable and long-predicted result of global warming caused by greenhouse gas emissions produced by burning fossil fuels. Fires, floods, and storms will grow steadily worse until we reverse course and adopt policies to reduce rather than increase global warming.
But the Trump regime, its Republican Party enablers, and the Republican majority on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) are all hell-bent on boosting the fortunes of their coal, oil, and gas industry donors by encouraging and expanding fossil fuel consumption and fracking while repealing or gutting every policy designed to combat dangerous emissions. We the People have to take action.
Last week’s orange, smoke-filled skies should have been enough to get our Members of Congress to understand that it’s time to get serious about the climate crisis – starting by holding the Trump administration accountable for failing to enforce environmental regulations and rolling many of them back.
Tell Speaker Pelosi and Rep. Speier: ([link removed][UNIQID]) Hold public hearings on the climate crisis now!
Our Senators can make sure hearings are held by exercising their leverage to block new FERC appointees. Now is not the time for them to fold on Trump’s agenda. And as the Democratic Party’s candidate for Vice President, we expect Senator Harris to lead the fight to protect the environment.
Tell Sens. Feinstein and Harris: ([link removed][UNIQID]) Block FERC appointments to force public hearings on the climate crisis!
Our Voter Guides are Live!
The upcoming election may be the most important one of our lives—and in California, it starts in less than three weeks, with mail ballots going out on October 5th. Make sure you’re ready!
We did the research so you don’t have to. Check out our Vote page at [link removed][UNIQID] to find out how and where to vote, learn how to check your registration status, read our voting guides, and more.
Check your voter registration status today. Yes, even California purges its voter rolls, so if you haven’t voted in a few elections, you may have been removed. If you’ve moved or changed your name, your registration may be out of date. It never hurts to check.
* If you’re registered in San Francisco, use the City’s Voter Portal ([link removed][UNIQID]) .
* Elsewhere in California, use the state’s Voter Status page ([link removed][UNIQID]) .
If you aren’t registered or your registration is no longer current, you’ll need to register by October 19th. We recommend you do so as early as possible–this year, we can’t afford to leave anything until the last minute. You can register to vote quickly and easily at [link removed]–do it now!
Make a plan NOW to vote. It bears repeating: this year, nothing should be left until the last minute. Because of the pandemic, all registered voters in California will receive their ballots in the mail. Fill it out, put it in the provided return envelope, sign and seal it, and return it.
You can mail in your ballot using our beloved Postal Service–the earlier the better. Every county will also have places where you can drop it off early; in San Francisco, that will be the City Hall Voting Center ([link removed][UNIQID]) (at Bill Graham Auditorium). And if you leave it until Election Day, you can drop off your ballot at your local polling place.

Our democracy is at a critical turning point right now, and we need to stay informed, stay alert, volunteer, and stay active. If you want to do more to protect democracy than cast your own vote, you can help get out the vote, serve as a poll worker, and/or counter disinformation. You can read more about all of these options on our blog ([link removed][UNIQID]) .
