If you're in a position to pitch in ? we're asking for help.? ? ? ? ? Friend ? the country is burning.
Across California, Oregon, and Washington, dozens of people have lost their lives, thousands have seen their homes and communities destroyed, tens of thousands have been forced to flee, and millions are breathing in some of the most toxic and polluted air in the world.
We're also experiencing a total collapse of federal response. Trump has ignored the devastation affecting millions of Americans as he continues to deny the science of climate change. His best response to the wildfires destroying nearly 5 million acres of land: "It'll start getting cooler, you just watch ? I don't think science knows."
Climate change is the reason these fires are burning more frequently and more intensely, and his signature policies have made it worse ? from gutting the EPA, to scrapping the Clean Power Plan, to setting up rules to allow cars to pollute more, to backing out of the Paris Agreement.
Now is our chance to respond. Our research is showing that environmental voter turnout has the potential to be bigger than the margin of victory in every single swing state this year.
But the truth is ? new polls show Trump gaining ground in Florida, Michigan, and North Carolina. If he wins these states, he's got a good shot at another term ? and right now, vote-by-mail efforts are still underfunded.
If you're able ? we're asking for help. Can you rush a donation to fund vote-by-mail efforts in swing states? Every contribution will be triple matched. Even $3 can make a difference ? [link removed]
Earlier this week, Joe Biden accused Trump of being a "climate arsonist" ? and of having "no interest in meeting this moment." He's right ? and it's not just climate change. It's COVID-19 and dismantling systemic racism. In tackling the most important issues of our times, Trump is not only failing to meet the moment, he's actively making the problems worse.
Friend, the environmental movement ? and whether we turn out or not ? will decide if Trump gets another term. If we win, we're in a real position to advance federal policies that put people most impacted by pollution and climate change ? especially communities of color, Indigenous communities, and low-wealth communities ? at the center of solutions, and leave a livable planet for future generations.
We have a real shot here ? I promise. Right now, our teams have been continuing aggressive outreach targeting environmental voters in swing states. We're still finding voters that care deeply about the environment, but haven't followed Trump's policies closely.
The response has been shocking ? many people simply don't know about Trump's environmental record. As soon as they do know, their votes shift in a serious way. Our research shows that after a conversation with these voters, we're generating a swing of 20 points away from Trump.
It's working, friend. Now we're trying to quickly expand. We're running voter outreach efforts in Florida, Arizona, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin ? where environmental voters are likely to shape the outcome of the election.
We need to do more. Vote-by-mail efforts still need funding. The truth is, the environmental movement ? and what we do now ? is going to decide this election.
Your contribution could help swing this election. Right now, every dollar is being tripled. Click here to donate to LCV Victory Fund ? even $3 can make a difference ? [link removed]
Thank you for everything you do ? we've got a real shot at this one, but it's only going to come together with your help.
