Can you help us find Covid-19 survivors to sign a global open letter?

Hi John,
This email is a bit different - we’re looking to bring together people who have had Covid-19, people who are in high risk groups and people who have lost relatives to Covid-19 to help with the campaign for equal global access to any vaccine. Can you help?

As countries face second waves of Covid-19, governments are pinning their hopes on a vaccine breakthrough. However, even if this happens, there are no guarantees that everyone, everywhere will have access to it.

Our global system is dominated by big pharma who are carrying on with business as usual - defending their monopolies and refusing to share research and know-how. These barriers restrict production and drive up prices, leaving us all in danger. As long as solutions are kept under lock and key, there won’t be enough to go around.

We need a People's Vaccine - not a profit vaccine.

To help with the campaign, we are looking to bring people together from around the world who have been most affected by this pandemic to help increase the pressure for a People’s Vaccine. We are looking for:
* Covid-19 survivors
* People who are in high risk groups
* Those who have lost relatives to the virus

If this is you, your voice can add weight to the demands for a People’s Vaccine.

If you are in one of these groups, you are invited to sign our global open letter to help put pressure on pharmaceutical companies here:

If you’re not in one of these groups, you can help by forwarding this message personally to people who might be able to sign the open letter.

** About the campaign
------------------------------------------------------------

We are teaming up with the People’s Vaccine global coalition* to reach out to people in as many countries as possible to ask those who have had Covid-19, are in high-risk groups and who have lost relatives to the virus to sign this public letter. The letter will be published in the media to raise awareness as well as ramp up the public pressure on big pharma.

You would be joining with signatories from around the world in solidarity to call for a People’s Vaccine.

Our best chance of ending this global pandemic is to ensure that everyone who needs a COVID-19 vaccine gets it. This will only be possible if pharmaceutical corporations share their knowledge and open up their monopolies so that a vaccine can be produced in vast quantities by as many manufacturers as possible.

The letter calls on the bosses of pharmaceutical corporations to share Covid-19 vaccines and treatments through the World Health Organisation’s Covid-19 Technology Access Pool, which will help prevent monopolies, expand manufacturing capacity and ensure affordable prices.

We need a People's Vaccine - affordable to all countries and free to the public.

Thank you for your support,

Heidi Chow
Campaigner

*About the People’s Vaccine
We are working on this letter with the People’s Vaccine alliance which is an informal coalition of organisations and individuals united under a common aim of creating a ‘People’s Vaccine’ that is based on shared knowledge and is freely available to everyone everywhere. Members of the alliance include Oxfam, UNAIDS and Médecins Sans Frontières.
