Kyle Larson’s Las Vegas race took an unexpected turn early when a handling issue forced his team to make a major adjustment. The move cost Larson valuable track position and left him a lap down, but the No. 5 team found a way to work back through the field. By the finish, Larson had another runner-up result and an even larger championship lead.
The recovery also caught the attention of Jeff Gordon, who saw something familiar in the way Larson and his team responded.
