Friend,

The federal policy created to protect victims of domestic violence expired nearly two years ago, and the bipartisan decision to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) passed in the House 531 days ago. It’s long overdue for the Senate to act.

Sign my petition to demand the Senate pass the VAWA Reauthorization Act and provide the resources needed to protect victims and families from domestic violence. [[link removed]]

The Violence Against Women Act was passed 26 years ago, and has helped save countless lives, but the work to protect survivors of domestic abuse is not finished.

The VAWA Reauthorization Act strengthens and expands protections provided by the original law. This includes closing the dangerous “boyfriend loophole” by broadening the ban on firearm purchases beyond spouses convicted of domestic abuse to include abusers outside of a legal marriage.

The reauthorization would increase safe housing options for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking to escape their abusers.

The call to pass the VAWA Reauthorization Act cannot continue to go unanswered. This legislation can save lives. Sign my petition now to demand the Senate pass reauthorization immediately. [[link removed]]

Thank you,

Henry
