Friends,

I hope your week is off to a peaceful start.

I've been thinking about one of the quieter responsibilities of citizenship: paying attention to the place where we actually live. So much of our technology pulls our attention elsewhere, toward national outrage, faraway fights, and things we can watch but never touch. Meanwhile the county clerk's office down the road, the precinct where we vote, and the neighbors on our own street can go years without a second thought.

Jeremiah 29:7 says, "Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you." What strikes me is who those words were first written to. They weren't written to people who were comfortable. They were written to exiles in Babylon, people living somewhere they hadn't chosen, under a government they didn't control. God didn't tell them to wait it out or wash their hands of the place. He told them to build houses, plant gardens, raise their families, and pray for the city. "For in its peace, you will find your peace."

That is a wonderfully grounded instruction. Faithfulness looks like showing up where you've been planted.

For us, that means knowing your own voter record. It means understanding how elections are actually administered in your county, asking good questions respectfully and persistently, and helping your neighbors understand it too.

I've watched this play out again and again in my own work, as a mom, as a wife, as a friend, and as a professional: the things that last are rarely built by a viral moment. They're built patiently, locally, and one relationship at a time.

That's what Mobilize A Million ( [link removed] ) exists to make possible on a larger scale: a million Americans checking their own voter records, learning how election administration works where they live, getting practical tools and training, and then turning to help the person next to them do the same.

It's yeoman's work. And it doesn't hurt to remember that this country was built by yeomen: ordinary men and women who worked their own land, owned their own responsibilities, and didn't wait for someone else to tend what was theirs to tend. America still needs that kind of citizen. We need people who are loyal, hardworking, reliable, and present, by the million.

So today, put your shoulder to the plow.[Check your voter record here →] ( [link removed] ) It takes a few minutes, and it's the first furrow.

There is plenty in the world we cannot control. But there is always something nearby we can tend faithfully and well. Start there.

Wake up. Equip. Mobilize.

For Freedom,

Sarah

P.S. To everyone already supporting this work month after month: thank you. Your recurring gift keeps the tools, training, and infrastructure running between the headlines, quietly and steadily, the way any good harvest is grown. If you've been meaning to join them, [become a monthly partner here]. ( [link removed] )
