Dear John,

Up to 30 Conservative MPs abstained or rebelled against their own government on Monday.

That was thanks to pressure from YOU.

We sent 30,000 emails to MPs in one week – and we saw the beginnings of real backbench rebellion against Boris Johnson and his law-breaking tactics.

There are others ways we can keep the pressure on. MPs often read the letters sections of their local paper to get a sense of their constituent’s views. By sending a letter to your local newspaper, you can show an MP their potential voters are paying attentions, and they are not happy.

With the right pressure, your MP will stand up for what’s right. Could your MP be the next rebel?

Simply copy and paste the message at the bottom of this email, and send it on to your local newspaper. You can find the relevant details on your local newspaper's website. You may not even need to have your name and address published.

One of the most effective ways you can change your MPs mind is appealing to their grassroots voter base.

On Monday, the Internal Market Bill cleared the first hurdle in parliament. But the bill isn’t law yet. There are still many chances for us to fight back. Act now, while there’s still time.

Best wishes,

To the editor,

I am deeply concerned by the government’s plan to break promises made in the Withdrawal Agreement; an international treaty signed less than a year ago. The Northern Ireland Secretary admitted this would break international law. The Internal Markets Bill would renege on commitments to avoid a hard border on the island of Ireland and would set negotiations with Europe back to square one. This Bill has already passed its second reading with a sizable Conservative majority.

The Conservatives pride themselves on being the party of law and order, of economic stability and of the Union. Now the government is openly breaking international law and paving the way to a no-deal economic disaster. How can the Conservative and Unionist party jeopardise the hard-won peace in Northern Ireland?

The Prime Minister does not speak for ordinary Conservatives. He was elected to deliver a comprehensive, ‘oven-ready’ deal with Europe, which would help communities and businesses like mine. Yet his actions threaten not only the reputation of the Conservative Party, but the global reputation of the UK as a trustworthy nation.

Yours sincerely,
