John, I know you get a lot of emails from me. So I wanted to
take a step back and tell you a little bit more about me and why I’m
running to be the next Governor of Michigan.

Ever since I was a student, I knew I wanted to fight for justice and make
a difference. I’m the daughter of two special education teachers. I was
raised in a working class family that instilled in me the values of hard
work, opportunity, and serving others.

It’s why I started my career investigating threats to democracy and civil
rights in the US and abroad.

It’s why I became a law clerk in Detroit, fighting to protect and defend
people’s civil rights and freedoms.

It’s why, as Dean of Wayne State University Law School, I worked to ensure
all students could afford their education, froze tuition, and expanded
scholarships.

And it’s why, as Secretary of State, I’ve fought to make everyday life
easier for all Michiganders, secure our elections, and expand voter
access.

But I know our work is far from finished. So now, I’m running for Governor
to make sure Michigan is a place where everyone – from our kids to our
seniors – can stay and thrive.

I know that government works best when it’s there when you need it, and
gets out of the way when you don’t. So here’s my promise to you: when we
win this election, I will use every tool available to make life easier:
expand rural healthcare options, build more housing, take on the utility
companies who raise our rates, make childcare free, and ensure anyone can
afford to live in the best place to call home.

But here’s the truth: Michigan is one of the most competitive states in
the entire country, and my opponent has the backing of big billionaires
and special interests. I can only win this race with your support, so
today, I’m asking:
