This is an issue of reproductive freedom, choice, and fundamental rights. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Hi there,

I have been reading with horror the emerging reports of forced sterilization procedures taking place at Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) facilities on detained immigrants.

These allegations are shocking and grotesque. They should be investigated immediately and thoroughly.

Forced sterilization has a long and terrible history in this country and globally, disproportionately affecting marginalized communities.

This is all part of a centuries-long effort to control the bodies of Black and Brown women. It's white supremacy in action. It's an issue of reproductive freedom, choice, and fundamental rights. Every woman should get to make her own health care decisions, particularly about her reproductive health, and we must fight efforts to undermine that right every time.

I am heartened and inspired in the wake of these reports by how pro-choice Democratic women have stepped up to educate and lead on this issue, particularly Representatives Ayanna Pressley (MA-07), Donna Shalala (FL-27), Veronica Escobar (TX-16), Sylvia Garcia (TX-26), and Pramila Jayapal (WA-07).

These leaders are exactly who we need in office to fight back. That's why I'm so proud they are EMILY's List women and why I know that the work this community does is so crucial.

Will you commit today to help elect more women like Ayanna, Donna, Veronica, Sylvia, and Pramila who will fight reproductive injustice wherever it exists?
