Friends,
Today my colleague and friend Luz was featured on POPSUGAR.com where she bravely shared the story about her journey as an undocumented person and how the organizing work we do changed her life and the lives of thousands just like her.
I hope you get a moment to check out her piece entitled “Undocumented and Unafraid: How Community Organizing Changed My Life” but I also wanted to make sure to draw your attention to this powerful quote from Luz that struck me the first time I read it:
“What have I learned from being a community organizer? You have to step up to make sure your community has what it needs to survive. DACA is a perfect example of that. DACA has shown us what happens when the people directly impacted are the ones putting forth the solutions; it's a testament to the power of youth organizing and remains the single most successful immigration victory the nation has seen in my generation.”
And how right she is. By harnessing our collective power and channeling our passion for fighting for our community into strategic organizing campaigns, we’ve made an impact on hundreds of thousands of lives.
We met the Trump administration at the Supreme Court — and won. We’ve advocated for policies that protect our communities from the violence of government agencies like ICE and CBP. We’ve led walk-outs and sit-ins and made our voices heard.
And we will not stop until immigrants and undocumented people everywhere know true justice and equity.
Will you make a donation of any amount today to United We Dream Action? Whether it’s $5, $50, or $500, you can be sure that every one of your hard-earned dollars you donate will immediately go towards the organizing work we’ll do together in the coming weeks and months.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
I really hope you get to check out Luz’s story about being undocumented and unafraid in POPSUGAR today. If you feel so moved by her piece, respond to this email with stories about how organizing has changed or affected your life, too. We always love to hear from the team.
Together in the fight,
Juanita from United We Dream Action
