Over the past several weeks, I've heard from countless constituents about postal service delays leading to small businesses losing sales, delayed rent checks, and medications for veterans and seniors arriving late. I've also spoken with local postal workers and heard stories of facilities smelling like rotting food and being infested with flies due to delayed packages.

Last month, my House Democrats colleagues and I passed the Delivering for America Act to provide the U.S. Postal Service with much-needed funding to handle the upcoming election and more.

Additionally, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy testified before the Oversight Committee about these operational changes, where it was clear he is unfit to lead the USPS. As the Committee continues its investigation into the Postmaster General, we cannot let President Trump's political cronies risk lives and undermine our democracy.

Since the COVID-19 crisis began, my office has been hard at work continuing to serve Angelenos in California's 34th District. This year, we've responded to over 46,000 constituent letters and calls, I've helped secure $100 million in federal CARES Act funding for emergency rent relief in Los Angeles, and my staff has helped constituents and local businesses receive over $2 million in COVID-related grants, loans, or other assistance.

In August, I joined the UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Initiative for a conversation on our immigrant communities and essential workers. During COVID-19, they have risked their lives to keep our grocery stores stocked and vital services running. As my colleagues and I urge the Senate to pass the Heroes Act, we must ensure future stimulus checks are sent to all taxpayers.

Throughout this pandemic, I've also joined our neighbors, like the Central Spanish Youth and Food Central Bank, to lend a helping hand to Angelenos in need. Staff and volunteers have distributed 6,000 hot meals each month, and on August 26, I stopped by to help distribute nutritious food packages to families in Pico Union.

Time is ticking for our community to make our voices heard and respond to the 2020 Census! I've been spreading the word throughout CA-34 to get our neighbors to respond today, including a Census canvass in Cypress Park last month and the AAPI Census Caravan traveling throughout our District.
