EMET APPLAUDS ISRAEL, UAE, USA, AND BAHRAIN FOR THE SIGNING OF THE HISTORIC ABRAHAM ACCORDS

(Washington, D.C., September 15, 2020) Today, September 15, 2020, Israel, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States signed the Abraham Accords thus marking an historic partnership between the four countries.

Additionally, U.S. President Donald Trump has announced the possibility of several countries that intend to follow the steps of the UAE and Bahrain. EMET is hopeful that this wave of peace across the Middle East will bring prosperity and stability to the people in the region.

The leaders of Israel, UAE, and Bahrain demonstrated courage and determination to better position the people of their countries in prioritizing peace over war, and focusing on mutual respect and shared vision that will benefit future generations for years to come. As we usher in the new Jewish year, EMET hopes this coming year will bring about a new era of peace, respect, and commonality.

Immediately prior to the signing of the Abraham Accords, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said to President Donald Trump, “From our very first meeting here in the White House three years ago, you repeatedly made clear your commitment to help Israel achieve peace with the Palestinians and peace with the rest of the Arab world. Mr. President, I share that commitment, and I look forward to working with you to achieve a peace that will protect Israel’s security, provide the Palestinians with dignity and their own national life, and improve Israel’s relations with the Arab world.”

Says President and Founder of EMET, Sarah Stern, “I was absolutely thrilled to be invited today, to be able witness the historic signing of the Abraham Accords on the White House Lawn. For 72 years, the nation of Israel has yearned and prayed desperately for peace, and have constantly held out an olive branch for peace... The peace accords that were signed today promise to herald the dawning of a new age, of a real peace, a peace from the ground up, a peace that will exist between the people themselves, and not just through signed documents and charters by the heads of government. At the ceremony today, I was privileged to meet a Bahraini woman and we spoke about how her children and grandchildren and my Israeli children and grandchildren will one day be friends. We spoke about the enmity that still exists, despite the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel, and Israel and Jordan, because of the counter-productive education that Arab children have been receiving in their schools, despite the
peace treaties, and we both agreed that this day would herald in a peace that will be entirely different.”
